The Popular Styles

Ball gown dresses have always seemed to be quite popular, which is why you will notice them at prom grand marches around the country. Not only do these dresses accommodate young ladies in the plus size department, but non plus size teens love them as well because they are sophisticated and make a statement.

Other styles include:

  • Sheath style - This is an evening dress that fits rather tight, hence the word “sheath” because that is how it fits
  • Long trains - Red carpets and wedding dresses are not the only place you’ll find long trains. Prom dresses can have them too.
  • Crumb Catcher Necklines - These necklines are available on a number of styles of prom dresses. The gathered necklines can be found on both scallop and V-neck necklines.
  • Mermaid style - You’ve probably seen the mermaid style because it has been around for quite some time. This evening dress fits tight and then flares at the bottom, making it look as if walking is almost impossible in this dress.
  • Short dress - The short dress has always made its appearance at prom. You will most likely see at least one short dress at prom.
  • Halter style - The 2010 V-neck halters have a sophisticated look and feel. There are a large number of halter prom dresses making their appearance.

There are a variety of other styles that you will notice, including tulle netting all over the dress, low backs, and the list goes on and on. Realistically, the sky is your limit.
