Think all Hair Styling Sprays are the Same? Think Again!

Remember the old days when hair styling spray was just hair spray? When we had only one type to choose from, and maybe a few “good” brands? Well, today’s experience of deciding on hair styling spray is much different.

The choices in choosing a hair spray for your style can be very overwhelming. You almost need a tutorial when in the styling aisle of your drug store- or someone to give you detailed information on each type. Non-Aerosol Hair Spray- for those of us who don’t like aerosol hair styling spray, there are many non-aerosol types available. These work by pump and spritz onto the hair.

Heat Protection Hair Spray- a must-have if you are using a blow dryer on your hair every day. Help protect your hair from the constant battering from the heat with a little heat protection.

Firm Hold Spray- this is the ultimate in a strong hold for your hair. If you want a style that isn’t going to move (such as an up-do for a wedding or something that has to last all day and night) you’ll definitely need a firm hold spray.

Flexible Hold Spray- if you need a styling product in your hair to give it a bit of shape and to loosely hold a style, but don’t care for that rock-hard look, this is the hair styling spray for you! Flexible hold sprays will generally allow the hair to move a bit, and will look less like it is glued into place.

Colour Treated Hair Spray- these are specially formulated to help hold the colour in your hair if you’ve colour treated it.

Volumizing or Thickening Hair Styling Spray- fantastic for those of us with fine, limp hair. We can “trick” our hair into having some much-needed volume with volumizing or thickening spray.
